The Georgia State Capitol was abuzz last week as students, faculty, and staff joined legislators and staffers under the golden dome for Georgia Tech Day at the Capitol. This annual event offers Georgia Tech a prime opportunity to showcase the Institute’s innovative work and ongoing contributions to the state of Georgia.
“Georgia Tech Day is an event that allows us to highlight the groundbreaking research, academic excellence, and community impact happening on campus,” said Donald Kirkland, director of state relations at Georgia Tech. “It strengthens our connection with state leaders and emphasizes how important institutions like Georgia Tech are to the state’s future.”
Along with many networking opportunities, the event welcomed representatives from Georgia Tech Research Institute, the Student Government Association, EcoCar, and the Rural Computer Science Initiative. These groups engaged with state officials on topics ranging from energy and sustainability initiatives to expanding access to computer science education in underserved communities.
“The event was a great success, highlighting not only the incredible work being done by the Institute but also the partnerships we are building with state leaders. From advancing research to fostering talent that drives Georgia’s growing tech industry, our collaborations are fueling innovation that strengthens the state's economy and enhances its competitiveness,” Kirkland said.
