Georgia Tech’s Anchor Institution Mission and Strategy

To advance the Institute’s research, education, and operation enterprises through sustainable development, inclusive entrepreneurship, social innovation, and economic opportunity in support of enduring community partnerships.

Georgia Tech's Strategic Plan

In 2020, Georgia Tech’s President Ángel Cabrera unveiled a 10-year strategic plan with an ambitious vision to amplify our impact, champion innovation, connect globally, expand access, cultivate well-being, and lead by example.

We aim to realize the Institute Strategic Plan’s vision for campus to serve as an anchor, collaborator, and convener for our students, faculty, and staff, and help reduce disparities and advance equity in our surrounding communities and throughout the state.

Guiding Tenets

By connecting new and existing efforts across the academic, research, and operation enterprises across the university, we coalesce our Anchor Institution strategies into a common vision for greater, more strategic impact. These are the guiding tenets of Georgia Tech's Anchor Institution strategy:

  1. Reduce disparities in lower income communities on Atlanta’s Westside
  2. Ensure wellbeing of first-generation students and low-income students and staff
  3. Apply global influence on a local level
  4. Address systemic challenges with consistent university resources
  5. Promote engaged research, teaching, and learning across the Institute
  6. Amplify grassroots voices and community-led solutions
  7. Co-create clear and transparent metrics
